Job Description

Colonial’s Internal Audit internship provides an introduction to auditing while assisting the department with documentation and testing of internal controls.  Throughout the program, participants will focus on issues shaping and affecting internal audit and adhere to standards of independence, professional objectivity, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop an understanding of Colonial’s internal audit approach, methodology and tools
  • Establish working relationships with department management and associated personnel
  • Review departmental accounting, compliance and operating procedures and systems of internal control
  • Identify accounting, compliance and auditing issues; perform research to solve issues that arise
  • Testing will include sample selection, audit work paper documentation and identifying audit exceptions
  • Receives instruction, guidance and direction from the Internal Audit Manager, Senior Auditor and other Internal Audit staff
  • Performs a variety of related tasks, as required

 

Job Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accountancy, finance or related business and must maintain enrollment in a degree seeking program.  Be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
  • Exhibit professional verbal and written communication skills
