Job Description

The Product Owner facilitates the development, improvement and implementation of our point of sale (POS) application across all mortgage production business channels. Primarily responsible for maximizing the value of the application to our business at the point of initial implementation through road map maturity


  • Conveys product vision and goals to key stakeholder groups
  • Ensure alignment of the product features with business, quality and functional goals of all stakeholders
  • Ensure value of the product is maximized by performing current state analysis and analysis of roadmap features and delivering enhancement recommendations
  • Works with vendor to prioritize and sequence release events based on expected value
  • Escalate to management any deficiencies, problems, or concerns that might be a potential risk
  • Work with vendor to resolve product deficiencies, identify mitigation plans and escalate issues
  • Consistent engagement with Colonial stakeholder groups to introduce the product features/enhancements to support user adoption
  • Conduct interviews and product analysis to gather and document business requirements and functional requirements
  • Release planning and coordination of activities across internal and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Engagement with Colonial's training team to collaborate on the development of training materials as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain effective and positive client relationships
  • Develop reasonable time estimates for project team tasks
  • Assist with the preparation of necessary presentation materials (e.g., project plan, work breakdown, structure and communication documents)
  • Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders including management
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and decompose high level information into details for general understanding
  • Provide technical/helpdesk site support (password resets, borrower/branch application assistance)
  • Identify and eliminate obstacles to solution plans, business goals and/or implementation
  • Build security rules and workflow controls and assign and configure business rules
  • Gathers analytical information to build reporting
  • Test to ensure project deliverables are accurately met
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a product owner, project management, production support, system analyst role
  • 3+ years of experience within mortgage production/origination
  • Roostify, ELC, Mortgage Cadence, Empower and/or .NET experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting IT principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques
  • Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user friendly language
  • Customer service orientated and strong interpersonal skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in task, time and data management abilities
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions, and chose appropriate alternatives using basis root cause analysis
  • Must be a team player and able to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work on and track multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
